BIOGRAPHY

Fireground are: Marco Franzese (vocals), Roberto Vagnoni (guitars), Fabrizio Sensini (bass) and Enrico Imparato (drums).

The band was founded in Naples in 2017, but all its members already had various experiences in some musical groups from the Neapolitan underground scene.

In 2018 the first self-produced demo was released, thanks to which Fireground got in touch with Pietro Foresti, award-winning rock producer with important collaborations to his credit alongside members of Guns ‘N Roses, Korn, Asian Dub Foundation, Unwritten Law.

In 2020 the band released, under the artistic supervision of Pietro Foresti and Matteo Agosti, their first studio album, « Fireground », consisting of 9 tracks including the singles « Worm », « Don’t Say a Word », « Aphrodite » and « Hang On 2 U », officially released on 16 April 2021 under David Bonato’s VREC label.

ABOUT OUR SINGLES

Hang on 2 you -> This is the most significant song for us, because it represents our rebirth in the musical meaning. It is music that saves the soul from withering, from existential emptiness, from death. Considering that we have been playing together since we were 15 years old, we have a history of many live performances in clubs, in Naples and the surrounding area. Then life made us take different roads, we became ‘grown-ups’, hence the worries linked to work, family, responsibilities… music had in fact disappeared from our lives. It’s just that music always presents you with a bill, it’s an urgency you can’t escape, a vital need to hang on to, it’s like air. And so Hang On 2 U represents the almost physical need to hold on to the certainties of life, to the things that cannot be renounced, just like the fact of surrounding ourselves with the people we love, to the fact of rediscovering the joy of playing all 4 of us together.

Aphrodite -> This song is inspired by a toxic relationship, a carrier of pain and frustration. In short, it speaks of the awareness of the need to get out of the negativity of an unhealthy love, in relation to which, however, an unhealthy dependence has developed. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, but in this song she is rather a goddess of death.

Don’t say a word -> Here is the most dreamy side of our music, the one that looks towards the Other Side and transcends reality. In this song we wanted to express a utopia, the aspiration to something impossible to achieve in the world, the perfect spiritual union, that is, an intimate and deep soul connection, the dream (or the need?) of a form of complicity and communication so great, pure and immaculate that it does not need physical contact or human language, which is insufficient to give voice to the most hidden and hidden part of us. It is an understanding without the need to speak.

Worm -> There are no big meanings behind it, but at least you can read this song as a clear and strong « fuck you » to whoever you want. It could be something like « I’m suffering because of you, how are you doing instead? Are you OK? Good for you, I’m feeling bad, I have to hide like a worm under the ground because of you, you have repressed me so much that I have to be ashamed of myself ». You can interpret it as you want, as an accusation to those who hurt you, to those who always made you feel wrong for the way you are.
